Warm congratulations to the newest graduates of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning!
On June 1, you marked an important transition—from students to the emerging visionaries who will help shape our built environments and strengthen our communities. You have endured long nights in studio, embraced rigorous critique, and come to understand that design is not only about structures, but about people, processes, and new ideas.
As future architects and planners, you carry with you a profound responsibility. Your work will contribute to the public good and leave a lasting impact on both present and future generations. This is both a privilege and an obligation, and I am confident you are prepared to meet it.
Acknowledgements:
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many individuals who make the success of our students possible. Our part-time instructors and dedicated staff play an essential role in supporting learning, creativity, and growth across the faculty.
In particular, I would like to recognize the outstanding contributions of our Dean’s Office support staff, especially Dotti MacNeil, our Student Engagement Officer. Dotti works closely with all of our students, supporting their academic success at every stage of their journey. Her care, attention, and unwavering commitment to student well-being and achievement are truly exemplary and deeply valued by our community.
My thanks also go to Ken Kam and Regan Southcott for their work in maintaining our labs, Allie Fulford, our Faculty librarian; the GIS Centre staff; and the Wil Coop office. We are equally grateful to the employers, families, and friends who have supported our students along the way.
To our graduates: I wish you all the very best as you take the next steps in your professional and personal journeys. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the world.
