Additional Information

Carly Ziter is an assistant professor in the Biology Department of Concordia University, Montreal, where she holds a university research chair in urban ecology and sustainability. She completed an MSc in biology and natural resources sciences at McGill, and a PhD in landscape ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a landscape and urban ecologist, her research asks how landscape structure, land-use history, and biodiversity impact multiple ecosystem services – the benefits we receive from nature – and their relationships in urban areas. Ziter and her students combine field-based studies, sensor and satellite data, community science, and synthesis approaches to ask ecological questions related to urban sustainability, policy and practice. Ziter often collaborates with non-academic partners, from grassroots community groups to federal government scientists, and is committed to integrating public engagement and science communication into her scientific work
