The Lord Nelson hotel is being used for the registration venue and also the welcoming reception on Sunday, August 25. A block of hotel rooms has also been secured for the meeting (see Travel and Accommodations Section).  The hotel is a landmark in downtown Halifax located at the corner of Spring Garden Road and South Park Street across from the beautiful Public Gardens and close proximity to the historic garrison. It is the closest hotel to the venue location at Dalhousie University in Halifax (Mariao McCain Arts and Social Sciences Building of Dalhousie University), and is approximately a 15 minute walk

Dalhousie University is a public research university with three campuses in Halifax, a fourth in Bible Hill (where the Agricultural Campus is located), and medical teaching facilities in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The university was established as a nonsectarian college in 1818 by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia (George Ramsay, 9th Earl of Dalhousie) and presently offers more than 4,000 courses, and 180 degree programs in twelve undergraduate, graduate, and professional faculties. The university is a member of the U15, a group of research-intensive universities in Canada.

The Ondaatje Theatre and Scotiabank Auditorium will be used for the Symposium on Monday, August 26, 2024. This venue is approximately 1.2 km away from the Lord Nelson Hotel, and is located directly across from the Student Union Building of Dalhousie University. These rooms are located immediately as you enter the front entrance of the Marion McCain Arts and Sciences Building of Dalhousie University. The building is located on the Sexton Campus, and is located directly across from the Student Union Building.

Tuesday, August 27, 2024

A field excursion will occur on Tuesday, with all attendees being required to board buses at the Lord Nelson Hotel.  Among the stops being made during the day will a visit to the Truro Agricultural Campus of Dalhousie University. Founded in 1905, Dalhousie's Agricultural Campus has a long tradition of agricultural education, training and research. The campus is home to the Faculty of Agriculture, which provides agricultural based Technical, Technology, Bachelor, Master of Science, and Doctorate of Philosophy programs. Recent improvements to the farm complex and research facilities now make it one of the most modern, best equipped university campuses in the Atlantic region.

Wednesday, August 28 to Friday, August 29

The last two days of the International Vaccinium Symposium will be held at the Prince Edward Island Convention Centre. The Delta Prince Edward Hotel is attached to the convention centre. The Tradeshow and poster contributions will be located in the conference centre. The venue is located on the waterfront, within walking distance to culinary delights, performing arts centers, the vibrant Victoria Row scene, and a short distance to some of the best beaches in North America. The Confederation Centre of the Arts which has an active array of events underway during the Symposium.  Additional details of the Centre can be found at https://confederationcentre.com/. Transportation from Charlottetown back to the Halifax Stanfield Airport and downtown Halifax will be provided on the morning of Friday, August 30.
