Public Service of Alliance of Canada to represent Dalhousie Grant‑Paid employees

Posted by admin on March 4, 2022 in General

Effective February 22, 2022, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) represents Dalhousie Grant-Paid employees.

In 2021, a union application was submitted to the Nova Scotia Labour Board by PSAC on behalf of Dalhousie Grant-Paid employees. A vote was held last summer with Grant-Paid employees. The vote was counted on February 22, and the majority of those employees voted in favour of unionizing. As a result, PSAC becomes their certificated bargaining agent. View Nova Scotia Labour Board Order 1952.

PSAC will represent:

All full-time and regular part-time employees of Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, who work in or out of Halifax, NS, and for whom a majority of their wages from Dalhousie University is derived from internal and/or external grants, or other external funding, but excluding those covered exclusively by another collective agreement, employees covered by the Dalhousie Professional and Managerial Group (“DPMG”), casual employees, full‐time students, internship and co‐op students, undergraduate and graduate student research assistants, student summer seasonal employees who are enrolled in a degree‐granting program, and those excluded by s.2(2) of the Trade Union Act.

Note: The PSAC certification does not include Grant-Paid employees on the Agricultural Campus who are covered by the NSGEU Local 77 Collective Agreement. Also, this PSAC certification is separate from the existing PSAC bargaining unit, Local 86001, which represents Postdoctoral Fellow Employees.
