Natalie Mike is a Communications Officer in Student Affairs. She works on many of the graphic design pieces for various communications and fo different departments. She helps to design and produce the New Student Handbook (a guide for new students to all the services and resources available on campus to support their success). She also develops social media posts, edits department email content and creates marketing materials. She also supervises members of the Dal Student Life “Street Team”; a small team of students who help to create student-to-student communications, including blog posts, photography, videos, and fun campus giveaways.

She came to Dalhousie in 2008 from Ontario with her husband after falling in love with Halifax on a short vacation and wanting to adapt a slower pace of life. She first started working at the Dal Bookstore, taking care of their merchandising and marketing, including creating the store Facebook page. After two years, she took a job opportunity in the Office of the Vice-President of Student Services and eventually her role evolved into a Communications Officer for Student Affairs.

Natalie volunteers for the DPMG Communications Committee, helping to produce the e-newsletter and any graphic design pieces that may be needed. Outside of Dal, she volunteers for Northwood as a Life Biographer; interviewing residents and writing short biographies of their lives which she really enjoys as she loves hearing interesting life stories.

Originally from Manchester in the UK, Natalie moved to Canada after meeting her now-husband Brad in 2004 whilst working at a river rafting lodge in Taihape, New Zealand. After finishing her Design degree at Goldsmith’s College, University of London, she emigrated to Canada to eventually marry and start a family. She now has her very own little Blue Nose, Elliot who is two-years old and keeps her busy enough but she still gets a spend a little time on her favorite pastime of drawing and painting. She lives in Dartmouth with her family which includes their little black dog Benny and dreams to one day illustrate a children’s book.
