Graduate Programs: Astrophysics

Astrophysicists in the Department study stars, galaxies and the evolving universe: the atmospheres and winds of massive stars; distant galaxies that shine brightly at submillimetre wavelengths; and the history of our neighbouring galaxy, Andromeda, traced star by star to reveal how galaxies form.

Projects draw on observations with ground- and space-based telescopes (listed as experimental work below), theory and computer models, and building new instruments, including superconducting detectors and adaptive optics.
