Mavis Darling is the winner of the Avery Prize and the Dalhousie Medal in Economics for 2026. Congratulations!
The Avery Prize is awarded to the student standing highest among all university graduates of baccalaureate programs; it is one of the very few prizes that are presented to students during their convocation ceremony. The University Medal in Economics is awarded to the Honours student in Economics with the highest GPA in a given year’s graduating class.
Reflecting on these achievements, Mavis shared: “As my time at Dalhousie comes to an end, I feel honoured to be receiving the Avery Prize and the University Medal in Economics, and to have the work I put into my degree recognized. I am grateful for all that I have learned over the past few years and for the support and opportunities that the economics department provided. While I don’t yet know what’s next, I look forward to seeing where this degree takes me.”
