Augmentative & Alternative Communication Program

The Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) Program provides group treatment for adolescents and adults whose primary mode of communication is not speech. Clients must be using technology (computer, tablet, book) in some form to replace or augment their speech.

This program accepts self-referrals as well as referrals from speech-language pathologists and other service providers in Nova Scotia and PEI. All individuals in the group have an established AAC system they use to communicate. Communicators at all levels may benefit from the group.

The group focuses on providing opportunities for autonomous communication and vocabulary development and serves as a support system for individuals with similar communication needs.
