A shared experience - by students, for students

The School of Health and Human Performance at Dalhousie University offers two programs focusing on recreation and leisure studies: Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Management. First-year students in both programs come together just before classes start to participate in Recreation Orientation.

By taking part in Recreation Orientation, new students get to know one another and find a shared learning community. In past years, the orientation was organized by faculty and alumni, but since 2003, it has been organized by students, for students, with upper-year students planning the activities for new students.

Therapeutic Recreation is a four-year undergraduate program providing students with the theoretical and practical skills to work in a variety of settings as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Find out more about the Therapeutic Recreation program.

Recreation Management is a five-year dual degree program at the undergraduate level that prepares students for career opportunities in the recreation and leisure service industry. Find out more about the Recreation Management program.
