Every now and then, healthcare personnel encounter patients struggling with taking their medicines because of swallowing difficulties associated with solid dosage forms, specifically tablets and capsules. Consequently, it is common practice to resort to breaking or crushing of tablets, opening of capsules as well as mixing of fragmented tablets or capsule content with soft food or edible fluids to make ingesting medications easier. This webinar aims to discuss typical drug delivery technologies embedded in tablets and capsules, the problems that can occur when these dosage forms are manipulated to meet patient needs and the potential impact of these alterations on therapeutic outcomes.
