In Nova Scotia, pharmacists provide primary care services related to assessment for medication prescribing, including prescription renewals and assessments of common and minor ailments. Over the past few years, pharmacists’ scope of practice has expanded—increasing the services they can provide—and thus potentially improving access for patients. This presentation shares findings from a three-part study that used administrative data, a survey, and interviews to examine how often pharmacists are prescribing, the types of prescribing, and the barriers and facilitators to pharmacist prescribing in Nova Scotia. Key messages for supporting pharmacist prescribing at all levels (from the pharmacist to the government) will be presented.

This webinar is accredited for 1 CEUs and is valid until June 4, 2025.
