Research Interests

Eric Rapaport has practical and academic experience in the field of planning. Prior to moving to Canada, he did his PhD on modelling of regional transportation and land use change modelling and air pollution impacts at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

His research focus is on land use change. In particular research has covered climate change and vulnerability analysis. This includes both physical infrastructure as well as social vulnerability assessments. Others area of interest include land use change over time using historical GIS as tool to investigate patterns of urban form change. Other areas of research with students have included the adaptation of GIS base multiple criteria for siting residential land use, community gardens and bike ways. He most recently published a paper for Transport Canada and Natural Resources Canada on the impacts of Climate for the Atlantic Region in 2017.
