The basics of Web Writing

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on January 29, 2013 in Events

How do most users read on the web? The answer may surprise you: they don't.

Learn the basics of web writing by understanding how most of us read online compared to how we read in print.

This 90-minute seminar will enable you to:

 - Recognize how web users think and behave

 - Understand the significance of reading and scanning patterns

 - Consider the physical limitations of onscreen reading

 - Apply best practices for web writing

 - Avoid common web writing mistakes, such as the "wall of text"

 - Create better and more engaging web content

About the facilitator: Jane Affleck, Online Content Officer (Communications & Marketing), has been writing and editing for the web since graduating with an MA from Concordia University. She loves sharing her knowledge of usability and the importance of adapting voice to audience with those new to web writing.
