Faculty and departments are asked to recommend PhD candidates for participation in the inaugural MicroResearch Cohort at Dalhousie University. This is a Dalhousie and Memorial University of Newfoundland initiative that aims to develop opportunities for PhD candidates to meaningfully impact our communities.
The MicroResearch Institute is a community-driven research training and mentorship program that equips participants with the skills, support, and interdisciplinary networks needed to transform local community-based research questions into evidence-informed action. Through hands-on learning, coaching, and project development, participants learn how to design and lead research that addresses challenges identified by communities, organizations, and partners.
We are seeking doctoral canidates who demonstrate strong potential for research leadership, community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and knowledge mobilization. While participants may come from any discipline, we are particularly interested in students whose work has the potential to create meaningful impact in communities here in Nova Scotia.
Participation in the cohort will provide students with opportunities to:
- Strengthen practical research and problem-solving skills through in-person workshops.
- Collaborate with peers, researchers, practitioners, and community partners from diverse disciplines as part of a research team.
- Develop community-based approaches to research and innovation.
- Receive a $3000 grant to support their group’s research project in their chosen community.
- Inform public discourse and influence policy through their community research project.
This 2-week workshop will be open to all faculties, but priority will be given to faculties of Medicine, Health and Agriculture
Applications are now open with a deadline of September 4
