Mitacs GRA: National Research Council of South Africa (NRF SA)

Mitacs Globalink Research Awards (GRAs) help faculty and students deepen the research links between Canadian and international educational institutions. Dalhousie faculty in any discipline may submit applications in support of their PhD Students and post-doctoral fellows.

Awards will be made to students in support of 12–24 week research project placements at universities in Canada and eligible South Africa institutions. These awards provide $6,0000 in funding for research costs, student stipend, and travel/living expenses. Incoming and outgoing applicants must secure a Dalhousie faculty member as their home/host supervisor prior to applying

Other requirements: For travel to Canada, intern must be a South African Citizen or permanent resident, be an NRF-funded doctoral student or postdoctoral fellow for the full duration of the Mitacs award.

Eligible institutions: Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Central University of Technology -Free State, Tshwane University of Technology, University of Cape Town, University of Fort Hare, University of Johannesburg, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Limpopo, University of Mpumalanga, University of Pretoria, University of South Africa, University of the Free State, University of the Western Cape, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Venda, University of Zululand, Vaal University of Technology, Walter Sisulu University of Technology, and Stellenbosch University.

Applications will be made by the Home Supervisor. However, applications will need to be reviewed and signed by ORS. Faculty members interested in hosting students through this program should contact amohan@mitacs.ca  for information as soon as possible.
