The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has released the draft call for proposals for the 2025 Innovation Fund (IF) competition. The CFI IF seeks to support world-class transformative research projects through the funding of research infrastructure.

Of note are the three application streams with differences in assessment criteria:

• Stream 1 – Leading edge of exploration and knowledge generation (open)
• Stream 2 – Leading edge of exploration and knowledge generation in the social sciences, humanities and arts
• Stream 3 – Renewal and upgrade of core facilities

CFI is encouraging feedback from the Canadian research community and other stakeholders. They will consider the input received when preparing the official call for proposals, which will be posted in early June.
