Re:       2020 Annual Report for Research and Innovation at Dalhousie University

I am pleased to share with you the 2020 Annual Report on Research and Innovation at Dalhousie University. It showcases how our world-class researchers are applying their brain power to the world’s most challenging problems: from ending poverty to fighting inequalities, tackling climate change, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

The stories you will find within this report speak to our researchers’ outstanding accomplishments over the past year – from joining the fight against COVID-19 and attracting a record amount of external funding to undertake cutting-edge research and innovation, to being recognized on the local, national, and global stages for their exceptional impact.

Although there is much to celebrate, there is no question that 2020 has also been a very challenging year. I thank the entire Dalhousie research and innovation community for having continued to work under the difficult circumstances created by the pandemic, and for its patience as we have continued to navigate these uncharted waters. Without our people, there would be no research and innovation enterprise at Dalhousie.
