The Livestock Vaccine Innovation Fund, which is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Global Affairs Canada and Canada’s International Development Research Centre, has issued a call for proposals to support the use of the latest cutting-edge innovations to accelerate the development of new vaccines against livestock diseases.

Research supported by this call will use state of the art technology to develop new vaccines for livestock diseases in an accelerated manner. The proposed research must have the potential to develop a commercial vaccine for one or more diseases which affect livestock smallholders in sub-Saharan Africa, South and South East Asia.

Up to eight (8) research projects with a duration of up to 24 months will be funded, to a maximum of CA$1,500,000 each.  This call is open to applicants from research-focused organizations from academia, private sector and research institutes from around the world.

Full details of the guidelines and a link to the application are available here.

Interested Dalhousie faculty are asked to contact the International Research Facilitator in Dalhousie Research Services (jennifer.morawiecki@dal.ca) for more information and support in preparing an application.
