Onward and Upward: DJIM Successfully Ratified by DAGS

Posted by Allison McCabe, Public Relations Co-Chair, DJIM on September 6, 2013 in Students, Research, News

The Dalhousie Journal of Interdisciplinary Management (DJIM) was ratified as a society by DAGS in August, paving the way for more funding and giving the student-led journal increased legitimacy.

The step comes on the heels of a series of changes and improvements since spring 2013. DJIM has added a Treasurer position to its Executive with the aim of developing financial management and fund-raising capabilities, drafted a constitution to solidify its policies and mandate, and recently welcomed Dr. Bertrum MacDonald as this year’s faculty liaison, helping to connect the journal to the management faculty.

Ratification not only has practical benefits for DJIM, but also holds symbolic significance. DJIM has been publishing quality graduate student work in the Faculty of Management since 2005 and this step represents a coming-of-age for the journal. “The ratification of DJIM by the DSU and DAGS expands our presence, lends credence to our voice, and gives us greater freedom to pursue our mission of publishing the best academic work by graduate students at the Faculty of Management," says James Rothwell, DJIM’s Chair.

DJIM encourages graduate students in all the schools of the Faculty of Management to offer papers for consideration. Volume 10 will be published in Spring 2014, and submitting work gives students a chance to experience the academic publishing process, have their ideas heard, and promote their work to the Dalhousie community and beyond.
