  • Students in Dalhousie's Master of Arts program are highly competitive candidates for places in top PhD programs across Canada and internationally. Many have been awarded major fellowships in support of their doctoral studies throughout North America. Other have gone on to careers in law, publishing, communications, journalism, and education.
  • Applicants to Dalhousie's PhD program are eligible for a Killam scholarship nomination. PhD students are funded by the Department for the first four years of study and are encouraged to apply for external funding every year. By the third year, and after Comprehensive Exams, PhD students are able to teach up to 4 half-credit undergraduate courses of their own.

The deadline to apply for programs beginning in September 2016 is January 15.
