  • Students in Dalhousie's Master of Arts program are highly competitive candidates for places in top PhD programs across Canada and internationally. Many have been awarded major fellowships in support of their doctoral studies throughout North America. Other have gone on to careers in law, publishing, communications, journalism, and education.
  • We have a small and vigorous PhD program with a high completion rate, and our students are funded by a variety of scholarships as well as Teaching and Research Assistantships.  Though many of our graduates hold tenured or tenure-stream university appointments, others have found successful careers in publishing, college teaching, immigration education, digital humanities, information technology, and academic administration.

To be considered for external scholarships, applications for programs beginning in September must be received by January 15.
