Sustainable Oceans 2013

The Sustainable Oceans Conference 2013 had an overarching theme of "Building Bridges in Ocean Management." This conference took place April 12 and 13 in Halifax, NS.

The key goal of the 2013 Sustainable Oceans Conference was to connect the science, policy and public spheres. As such, this student-led conference aimed to build bridges by bringing people together - voices, from all sectors- to collaboratively develop a strong voice to identify challenges currently undermining sustainable ocean management in Canada and determine potential solutions.

The conference aimed to:

  • Identify challenges currently undermining sustainable ocean management in Canada and to collaboratively indetify solutions
  • Provide students with the opportunity to practice their presentations skills, publish their work in an online technical series [PDF 2.82 MB] and to network with others involved in the field of ocean management.
  • Bring together all sectors of ocean managment and the wider community to explore and collaborate to achieve greater management solutions.

The Co-chairs for Sustainable Oceans 2013 were Jenna Stoner and Leah Beveridge.
