The negative health impacts of fat shaming
The issue of fat shamming has been the topic of much debate lately after a public dispute broke out between late night talk show hosts Bill Maher and James Corden. Dr. Sara Kirk is available to discuss how weight bias impacts an individual’s health and the treatment they receive from health care professionals. She can also provide perspective on how weight bias often does more harm than good.

Bringing clean water to First Nations communities
After nearly 25-years, a boil advisory in Neskantaga First Nation is set to end next month. This week however, nearly 100 residents fled the community after pumps failed, cutting off their water supply. Dr. Graham Gagnon is available to provide comment on what is involved in the process of bringing clean water to communities and why it has taken so long. Dr. Gagnon is the NSERC/Halifax Water Industrial Research Chair in Water Quality & Treatment and also serves as the Director for the Centre for Water Resources Studies at Dalhousie.

Food Security proving to be a key election issue
A new survey supported by Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, suggests Canadians consider food security to be one of the most important electoral issues. Dr. Sylvain Charlebois and Dr. Howard Ramos are available to provide comment on the study and how Canadians consider food affordability an important issue for this Federal election. They can also discuss how Canadians are divided on matters of global trade for the sector.
