Dawson Geology Club

1958

Although one of the oldest organizations on the Dalhousie Campus, the Dawson Club is represented for the first time in the Dalhousie Yearbook. We try to foster interest in science in general and geology in particular. This year we organized field trips to Scotsburn, Malagash and Springhill mines. During the spring term the bi-weekly meetings featured guest speakers who gave specialized talks on geology, mineralogy and petroleum refining. At the annual symposium, which was our big event of the year, Canon Puxley, Dr. Archibald, Dr. Hoogstraten, Dr. Morrison and others debated about education. During the last meeting of the year, Student's night, the best year essays of Geology 1 were read.
