Labour Disruption
The School of Social Work relies heavily upon the knowledge and skills of part-time academics (e.g., sessional instructors, teaching assistants). We value their contribution to our curriculum as they bring practice experience, applied knowledge and current debates within our profession into our classrooms. We are extremely fortunate to have part-time academics who are practicing social workers in our School community.
Our social work values shape who we are, and we acknowledge that the current labour disruption has put tremendous stress upon all our School members, those on the picket lines, students feeling torn between attending to their education or standing in solidarity with their colleagues, faculty who themselves are social workers, and staff who work with all members of the School community. We ask that all of us hold each other in respect as we find ways to uphold social work values during this challenging time.
