Student Responsibilities

 

Before the practicum placement begins:

  • Send the Student Placement Profile form to your clinical educator (speech-language pathology students only)
  • Review recommended readings and/or materials, as per your clinical educator
  • Complete all placement requirements

Placement Requirements

There may be additional requirements for your practicum placement that are specific to your practicum site. Please contact the clinical coordinator to determine if there are any other requirements for you to fulfill prior to beginning your practicum placement.

 

During the practicum placement:

  • Demonstrate professionalism
  • Integrate the information presented in class lectures and readings into clinical practice
  • Communicate with the clinical educator about your expectations of the placement, preferred type of feedback, challenges/conflicts if they arise, etc.
  • Keep track of your clinical hours throughout the practicum placement
  • Assist other students in developing clinical abilities by actively mentoring those with less experience (for practicum placements using the reciprocal peer coaching model)
  • Work in accordance with the Code of Ethics and other standards of practice

 

After the practicum placement has been completed:

  • Ensure all required evaluation and hours forms are signed and returned to the clinical coordinator
