Combined MScPT‑Rehabilitation Research

The School of Physiotherapy offers eligible students with interest in entry-to-practice Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Research the opportunity to obtain both degrees (MSc Physiotherapy and MSc Rehabilitation Research) in a period of three years. Please see information pertaining to these two programs using links provided to the right on this webpage.

This combined clinical/research program delivers a unique opportunity for students who want to become physiotherapists but also have aspirations for scholarly advancement through research focused study. The individual program objectives remain unchanged.  Students first engage in their MSc Rehabilitation Research training. Following this first year of study, students who successfully complete required course work and defend their MSc Rehabilitation Research Thesis Proposal will begin their MSc Physiotherapy degree with the incoming class. This program naturally has integrated research components in which students in the Combined program will complete their proposed thesis. If, after three years of total study, students have met the objectives of the MSc Physiotherapy and MSc Rehabilitation Research degrees, both degrees will be awarded during Convocation. This degree combination provides students a solid foundation for a future in clinical practice, clinical research, academia and research related inquiry through PhD studies.
