Research Update

Changing the Face of Research at the School of Physiotherapy

~by Derek Rutherford, PhD, Assistant Professor

It has been a productive start to 2013 for the Research Faculty in the School of Physiotherapy. We have been busy changing the face of our Rehabilitation Research program, working towards a PhD program in Health, and building a greater web presence for our research initiatives. A number of publications have been accepted as shown below and research grants either received or submitted have totaled over 15 altogether. On a special note, we would like to extent our congratulations to Alicia Gionfriddo, graduate student of Dr. Shaun Boe, who was recently awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Canadian Graduate Scholarship (CGS) for her MSc project investigating how areas of the brain work together to produce movement. The NSERC CGS is awarded to the top-ranked applicants at each level of study (master’s and doctoral). Congratulations Alicia!

As always, visit our website to find out what research is happening in the School of Physiotherapy.
