Halifax paddler Mark de Jonge captured a silver medal at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Germany on Sunday.
De Jonge, whose home club is Maskwa on Kearney Lake, was representing Canada in the K-1 200-metre event.
He just missed the gold finishing 0.03 seconds behind the winner from Sweden.
"The race went really well. I executed my race plan just the way I wanted. I just warmed up, ready to go. I don't think I could have done much better. I'm sure I could have found [three one-hundredths] of a second better if I really looked into it, but I'm happy with the way that I raced today," said the paddler.
