Steelcase Gift Announcement

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on March 29, 2016 in News

Joel Brown, Dealer Business Manager, Steelcase, recently selected Dalhousie University as the recipient of a Brody study unit for installation at the MacRae Library on the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

A celebration event was held on last Thursday, March 24th, 2016.

"Donors such as Steelcase and Mr. Joel Brown make it possible to do exciting things on campus and to provide new opportunities for students," said Dr. David Gray, Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Principal Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.  "They help create awards and student funding, they allow us to improve our laboratory and research facilities, they beautify our campus.  And in this particular case, Steelcase is improving the student experience."

In the past year the Faculty of Agriculture has been fortunate to have the opportunity to thank many donors, who see the value in investing in students with gifts of equipment, machinery, artwork and now study space.

Steelcase designs spaces that are innovative, creative and built for functionality and comfort and their education division creates environments that encourage student success and learning.

With students preparing for exams, this unit arrived at the perfect time and is already proving very popular.

Library staff have received feedback like “This is awesome!” “What a great private space!” “Please get more!” and “I will do my best writing in this unit!”

"I’d like to thank Steelcase for providing us with this high-quality study area for our students that accommodates their need for quiet study and writing space," added Dean Gray.
