Maya Lowe

Maya graduated from StFX University in 2021 with a BASc in Health with first class Honours. Her undergraduate thesis project focused on the mental health challenges faced by Multiracial university students. She has previously worked at the Spatializing Care Lab studying dementia care during the Covid-19 pandemic. Maya has also worked at Dalhousie with the MAAC lab on various studies focused on trauma-informed care for Indigenous communities, opioid use in Indigenous communities, and self-blame among sexual assault survivors. Maya has received funding through the Dalhousie summer research program for non-medical students and has been awarded a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship. She will begin the Health Promotion MA program at Dalhousie this fall with Dr. Numer and Dr. Dietzel exploring LGBTQ+ health. Her research interests include marginalized population health, intersectionality, and health policy.
