Where is summer residence?

Students who apply for summer residence are accommodated in Shirreff Hall.

I currently live in residence. Can I stay in my current room all summer?

If you currently live in Shirreff Hall, we will try to keep you in your current room, however depending on the house you live in this may not be possible. If you live in other residences, you will need to relocate to Shirreff Hall.

Are there summer meal plans?

Shirreff Hall Dining Hall will open this summer!

Summer Dining Hall will be open from breakfast on May 1st to breakfast on August 15, 2024.

Monthly meal plans are available for purchase but are not mandatory. These plans are monthly meal plans, that are valid from the 1st of the month to the last day of that month.  

Door Prices will be available, and walk-ins are welcome.

Includes 25 meals, which are added to your Dalcard. It's a convenient option for those who prefer a more flexible dining schedule. 

Any meals not used by the end of the month will not carry over to the next month

21 Weekly Meal Plan

May, June, July

This plan offers a weekly allocation of 21 meals loaded onto your Dalcard. It's ideal for students who dine regularly at the hall. 

It's important to use all 21 meals within the week, as they do not roll over to the following week. 

$906.72, with taxes included. 

Prorated 21 Weekly Meal

August

Like the 21 Weekly Meal Plan, this prorated version is available for purchase in August, offering 21 meals per week. 

Unused meals expire weekly, and the plan concludes on August 15, 2024.

Shared kitchenettes are always available, featuring a full-sized refrigerator, stove and microwave. Please note that these kitchens do not include utensils/supplies and are in high demand.

Do I have to stay the entire spring/summer?

No. Summer residence offers flexible arrival and departure dates. Unlike academic-year residence, students do not need to stay the entire term. A 2-week minimum stay is required. 

When can I move to my summer room?

You will be required to move into summer residence promptly following your last exam. More information on this will be sent out directly to those to which this applies.

How do I pay for summer residence?

The charges for summer residence will be posted to your Student Account all at once (just like they are during the academic year). They will be due Mid-May. The due date will be communicated to you clearly upon application. If you are staying for one month or all summer, all the charges are due on this date.

Are there Resident Assistants in summer residence?

We have on-call Residence Life Managers and Residence Assistants available for all summer residence students, as well as a 24-hour front desk.

What is included in my stay?

Included in every summer residence stay is:

a private single room featuring:

  • Single bed
  • Desk and chair
  • Wardrobe or closet
  • In-room sink (*not all rooms have sinks)
  • Shared washroom facilities
  • Wireless Internet access

Deadline to apply for summer residence.

April 24 

Academic year residence closes. Students not registered for summer residence must be completely moved out.

April 30 

Tentative move in date for those moving in from off campus. 

May 3

Tentative move in date for those moving in from academic residence. 

 

May 6

Spring academic term begins.
