Diabetes Canada: Diabetes Investigator Award

Posted by Danielle Andres on March 12, 2018 in Research Funding

The Diabetes Investigator Awards are designed to provide operating support to independent researchers through the bulk of their careers. There are two streams of Diabetes Investigator Awards: Clinician Scientist and Research Scientist. All assessment criteria remain the same, but the applications will be ranked only against other applications in the same stream.

The applicant must be an independent researcher, with an academic or research appointment with an eligible Canadian research institution. At the time of application, no fewer than 5 years and no more than 15 years may have elapsed since the applicant’s first academic appointment as an assistant professor or equivalent. Interruptions in a candidate’s research career will be taken into account to determine eligibility. Please consult the guidelines for full eligibility criteria.

This award amount is $125,000 per year for 3 years. In exceptional circumstances, successful candidates may request to have a maximum of $50,000 per year for salary support to protect research time. Researchers may only hold one Diabetes Investigator Award at a time. These awards are tenable at a public or not-for-profit institution in Canada.
