Over the past 20 years, the Space Technology Development Program (STDP) of the Canadian Space Agency has developed hundreds of technologies for dozens of potential space missions.

The STDP mandate, which is delivered through contracts and contributions, can be summarized as follows:
1.       to formulate, implement, and manage R&D projects related to the development of Mission Enabling and Generic technologies to support future needs of the Canadian Space Program; and

2.       to support industrial capacity building through the development of new products/services, processes and know-how.

Basic R&D has numerous benefits for Canada, namely:
·         Reducing the technological uncertainties associated with potential Canadian space missions;
·         Stimulating industrial innovation in strategic space-related technologies; and
·         Strengthening the core capabilities of the Canadian space industry through industrial capacity building initiatives in order to maintain industrial readiness and competitiveness.

STDP is continually trying to improve its efficiency and pertinence.  To this end we have started this summer our consultation process with the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada and we would like now to extend it to the Canadian space sector through an interactive Webinar session.
