ACENET Advanced Research Computing Sponsorship Program

Posted by Suman Jha on March 14, 2016 in Research Funding

ACENET offers a program that provides funding to support conferences (not including travel costs), seminars, speakers, training, and collaborations related to advanced research computing (ARC) in Atlantic Canada.

Advanced research computing is essentially computing that is beyond the capabilities of a desktop or laptop, including computationally and/or data intensive, cloud and large file secure storage and transfers.

Typical sponsorship allocations are less than $5000, but may also include "in kind" requests for dedicated support time from ACENET Computational Research Consultants.

Individuals and collaborative research groups are invited to make submissions. Applications can be submitted at any time, but are reviewed by ACENET at the end of each quarter. The current quarter ends March 31st. Priority will be given to excellent applications that have a strong ARC component, encourage the development of ARC skills, provide visibility to ACENET and ARC in Atlantic Canada, involve collaborations among researchers and/or help advance ARC in a research community without a strong history of its use. Promotion and outreach should be an explicit part of all proposals, and both student engagement and ACENET liaison in these activities is encouraged.

The full information package, as well as the application form and a poster can be found on our website, www.acceleratediscovery.ca
