Posted by Suman Jha on March 7, 2016 in Announcements

Good afternoon,

We have decided to extend the submission deadline for the Call for Content for our upcoming event,  Enhancing Public Safety through Community Research: Knowledge Exchange & Connecting Cross Sector Collaborators, hosted by John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network.  I’m wondering if you wouldn’t mind passing along the attached Call for Content to the students and faculty in your department and any related listservs? The submission deadline has been extended to March 11. See below for the invitation!

Thank you,
Robyn LeBlanc

Good afternoon,

The John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick Inc. was fortunate enough to receive funding from Public Safety Canada to organize a one day event where we would bring together community organizations, academic researchers, and funding bodies with a goal of getting more research done in community around enhancing public safety.

There is no cost, other than travel for those outside of Moncton.

An agenda will follow in the coming weeks, but I wanted you to know that there will be opportunities to present a project or research question that you think could benefit from developing a relationship with folks working in community organizations. Similarly, non-profit and community organizations will also be given the chance to highlight projects and/or programs that they believe would benefit from research and/or evaluation.

The format will include Lightening Talk presentations – a panel of 5 NGOs/Government/Community entities and then 5 Academic Researchers will each have 5-7 minutes to talk about a community project or research question they’re involved with that they feel would benefit from being evaluated or researched .   There will be structured networking where NGO’s, research academics, and representatives from research funding bodies, can also pitch their work.  As mentioned, the full program agenda will follow but this will be a great opportunity to be a part of developing a research agenda and adoption of best practices to enhance public safety in New Brunswick.

You can register here.

I’ve attached the Call for Content for those who want to present their work in the Lightening Talks part of the day.  Please give strong consideration to highlighting one of your projects/program. **Please note the submission deadline for the Call for Content has been extended to March 11th**

Please contact Joanne Murray if you have any questions:  506-854-3502
