CFI Lab/Facilities Listing

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has developed a listing of CFI research labs and facilities in an effort to foster collaborative initiatives and increase the use of CFI research infrastructure.  It is expected that the labs/facilities listed will interest other researchers and private and public sector members.  Please see more information below from CFI.

If anyone at Dalhousie is interested in listing their CFI Lab/Facility on the CFI website, please contact Juliana.Serroul@dal.ca.

CFI Lab/Facilities Listing

In November 2013, the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) launched its Research Facilities Navigator (Innovation.ca/Navigator), a searchable online directory of CFI-funded research facilities across Canada that are open to working with business.

CFI is inviting your institution to be part of this successful initiative by submitting new listings of CFI-funded labs at your university, college or research hospital.

The Navigator was created to help businesses and organizations find research facilities, equipment and expertise that can help them meet their research and innovation needs. For institutions and researchers, the Navigator offers an effective way to promote their labs and expertise to potential research partners in the private sector.
The Navigator is open to all research labs or facilities that have received funding from the CFI or that use CFI-funded infrastructure, and that are already working with business or are looking to do so.

To date, the CFI has received more than 360 lab profiles from 63 universities, colleges and research hospitals across Canada — and these numbers continue to grow.

CFI has been hearing from the business community and from industry organizations that the Navigator is helping them find the research expertise they need. This call is being sent out for more profiles to expand the Navigator to make it even more useful to the business community. Research offices are encouraged to forward this invitation to any CFI-funded researchers who could benefit from better visibility among prospective research partners and collaborators in the private sector that comes with being listed in the Navigator.

Profiles of labs and facilities in all disciplines are welcome. In recent meetings and conversations with industry, a number of representatives have indicated that the Navigator could be an especially useful resource in the following sectors:

  • Aerospace and satellites
  • Forestry and forest-based industries
  • Information and communication technologies and media
  • Life sciences, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment

CFI Project Leaders at Dalhousie interested in listing their CFI lab/facility on the CFI website should contact Juliana.Serroul@dal.ca by July 15 so that CFI can process and post new profiles by the fall.
