Key Services and Information

New Employee Orientation

Dalhousie regularly holds voluntary New Employee orientation sessions monthly, except in December. All new employees (faculty, staff, grant-paid, Post-Doctoral Fellows and temporary employees) are encouraged to attend.

  • The session provides an opportunity to become more familiar with Dalhousie as well as to meet other employees, new and experienced.
  • Guest speakers from various departments will share valuable and timely information relevant to your first few months at Dalhousie.
  • You will also be provided information on the numerous opportunities and services available to you as a member of the Dalhousie community.
  • Please register through the Employee Learning Calendar [login required]

Academic Staff Orientation

Complementary to the general New Employee Orientation session, the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) hosts a New Academic Staff Orientation every August to welcome new colleagues to the academic community.

  • The Orientation is designed to introduce you to the resources, services and people available to help you get off to a strong start in your academic roles.
  • Academic staff who have joined Dalhousie during the past year are invited to meet other new colleagues and to discuss strategies and resources to support your academic work.
  • Contact the Centre for Learning and Teaching with any questions.

Note: It is recommended that new faculty attend both the Academic Staff Orientation and New Employee Orientation as the sessions cover different content.
