Primary Progressive Aphasia Program

The Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) Program provides individual and group treatment for clients who who are experiencing a decline in communication abilities consistent with PPA.

This program accepts self-referrals as well as referrals from speech-language pathologists, psychologists, and physicians in Nova Scotia.

The therapy focuses on maintaining communication through independent and partner strategies provided and practiced through individual and group sessions. Emphasis is on using all possible communication tools to maintain quality communication.

What to expect at a session?

The sessions are run by a certified speech-language pathologist, and by graduate students from the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Assessment, communication strategies and tools are determined in collaboration with the client and a support person. A weekly (8 week) support group is part of the treatment plan.

Where do sessions take place?

All sessions are currently conducted online via ZOOM
