I am new to Halifax and excited to start doing research on microbes in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. Using Scotian Shelf and Bedford Basin time-series metagenomic data, I will be looking specifically at the nitrogen-fixing bacteria UCYN-A. I hope to examine their symbiotic relationships and preferred environmental conditions.
