New Paper on Access to Coastal and Ocean Resources for Coastal and Indigenous Communities within Canada

Posted by Jordan Gardiner on November 22, 2017 in News

In June 2017, a workshop took place that discussed issues related to marine and ocean access for coastal and Indigenous communities. A variety of stakeholders were present including: academics, Indigenous peoples, fishers and NGO representatives. At this meeting, a list of recommendations were created on how Canada should move forward on this issue including prioritizing access to these communities in all policy and decision making processes that deal with ocean and coastal resources. The group recently published a Paper and Policy Brief  on their findings. Dr. Lucia Fanning, Fish-WIKS PI is an author on this paper. [Policy Brief: pdf 7.9 MB]
