Semester wins and holiday Cheer: PT students power into the festive season!
Written by Nikhil Hirani, Student Society President
It's hard to believe the first semester is almost complete, and the holiday spirit is bubbling up all around - our Holiday Spirit Week helped with that. Dressing up in festive attire and giving donations to the food bank provided the motivation required for the final push to the end of the semester, which will mark four months into the First Year's PT journey and the last few days on campus for the Second Years until we return from our third placements in March!
In addition to the busy semester, several new first-year representatives were elected. We are extremely excited to see what they have in store for the remainder of the year!
The class of 2028 has shared that this semester has been challenging yet enjoyable. From their class rep, Charles Floden:
"As the end of November approaches, and with it the closing of a grandiose semester, it's always great to look back at some of the highlights as well as some of the shenanigans the students have been up to! Within the first few weeks of September, the students enjoyed a variety of activities outside of class, taking advantage of their free time earlier in the semester! Both years went to Citadel Hill, played a variety of games outside, and attended a boat party as we crossed the Halifax Harbour. They also had a trivia night and a dodgeball tournament! The first years tested their throwing arms in a friendly axe-throwing competition, which saw student legend Keigan Landry win the tournament and dethrone the second year's reigning champion! A social event amongst the first years was planned for Halloween day, where students got creative with awesome group costumes and wacky solo ones! Make sure to check the photo gallery from Festive Spirit week."

The Second Years have been working through a neuro-heavy semester, launching our research projects, and getting excited to put our new neuro and MSK skills into practice during placement in the New Year.
The PT Society has been as busy as ever, planning several events, including an orientation week for the incoming class and a very successful first fundraiser. We're also planning a PT job fair in the early Spring for second-year students to meet with interested recruiters. Stay tuned for more details!
Dal PT has also taken intramurals to a new level with the basketball team – Ball and Sockets making it to the Semi-Finals of the Semi-Competitive League!
While the PT journey is not easy, it's fulfilling. Both classes enjoy the challenge and the friendships that make it all the better.
The classes of 2027 and 2028 are wishing everyone a seamless finals season and wonderful, restful holidays!
