The Class of 2020 finished their exams and their experiential learning through the simulated patient program, at the end of April. The class is now spread out across Atlantic Canada where they are applying the knowledge and hands on techniques they’ve developed this year in their first two clinical placements - musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory. The class of 2019 worked hard right up to the end of May, defending their research projects, completing their integrative exams, and their clinical competency exam (CCE). The in-class portion is over for the graduating class, they now have two integrative clinical placements and the national exam that set them apart from transitioning from student to physiotherapist and “real life”.

This past semester felt like it flew by! Let’s take a look back on the amazing memories and events that took place!

Our second-year class very much enjoyed the potluck that was prepared for them by the first-year students. Potlucks are a great way for the two classes to catch up during a busy semester.

This year’s most popular event - the Physiotherapy Ball – took place at The Westin Hotel. The event went off without a hitch, thanks to our planning committee: Kayla Toner, Melissa Bungay-Hibbs, Candice Bernard and Bailey Strickland. The evening began with videos, created by classes from both years, that demonstrated a year in the life of a Dal PT student. Videos were followed by a photo slide show created by Melissa Bungay-Hibbs and Candice Bernard which had students full of emotion as they reminisced on the past year. Humorous awards, based on student votes, were presented as well. This part of the evening was emceed by Greg Furlong and Anna Campbell, who had the crowd roaring with laughter numerous times.

Following the delicious Westin dinner, professors, students and their friends ripped up the dance floor and danced the night away! Again, I would like to thank everyone mentioned above, along with Holly Nason, the 2019 grad class and anyone else who helped with planning the event.

With the the school year coming to an end for the graduating class of 2019, it's time to say good-bye to this year’s student council committee that consisted of myself Tyler Parmiter (President), Kaitlyn Higgins (Vice President), Kayla Toner (Secretary) and Carolyn Crane (Treasurer). On behalf of the student council, and the classes of 2019 and 2020, we would like to welcome Holly Nason (President), Megan McPhee (Vice President), Emily Blight (Secretary) and Angela Pope (Treasurer) as council representatives in the upcoming year. The student body is in good hands and I have a great feeling about the 2019-2020 school year!

To the graduating class of 2019 - Congratulations we did it!  It’s been quite a journey these past 2 years. We shared some hard times and some great times and it’s hard to believe we are at the bittersweet end. As we reluctantly say goodbye to each other and to our second home – the Forrest building, we look forward to developing our careers and achieving our goals. May our memories and strong friendships continue on.

See you all at graduation!
