Booked, busy, and thriving: The latest physio student news
by Nikhil Hirani, Student Society President
The PT Class of 2027 has been booked and busy! They have wrapped up their third clinical placement while also putting the final touches on their thesis projects covering a wide range of topics. On top of that, this year’s career fair was a huge success, featuring 30 exhibitors and welcoming 5 new sponsors, creating exciting opportunities for networking and future careers. As they step into Integrated Practice, marking their final semester at Dalhousie, there is excitement as they enter a new era, but it will be bittersweet as they all cross that finish line.
This semester, the physiotherapy class of 2028 has been growing closer and participating in many activities outside of school. Through the snowstorms and hefty weeks, there always seemed to be something on the go for the class. In January, the class participated in a spin fundraiser class to raise money for the Dal Physio society, as well as hosting another successful bake sale in the Tupper building. In February, the class went on a ski trip up to Wentworth ski resort, where many stayed in an Airbnb close by. March was full of laughs and fun. In terms of sports achievements, the class had three intramural teams throughout this semester: indoor soccer, basketball and inner tube water polo. So far, it looks like the basketball team will be making the playoffs!
Across both classes, the energy has been just as impressive outside the classroom. From the annual PT Ball, where everyone showed up dressed to impress, to the first-ever pickleball tournament with 17 teams competing, the sense of community has been unmatched. Both classes were also fortunate to participate in the annual multicultural potluck. Thank you to the 40 students who were able to attend and learn about different cultures in our class! As the semester winds down, we wish the best of luck to the first years heading into their very first placements, and to the second years as they take on their final semester. You’ve all put in the work; now it’s time to finish strong. Congratulations to everyone on an amazing year!
