Spring 2017 Student News

Class of 2017.
The students of the Class of 2017 have conquered a mountain of work and finally reached the finish line. While the second years have completed their module 8 exam, their CCE, and are signing up for the national exam, the first years are currently spread across the Atlantic Provinces on their very first clinical placement.
This semester has flown by quickly, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t had time for many exciting events. First, we held the annual Physiotherapy Ball at the Atlantica on March 25th. Luke Dillman, Matthew McCormick and Brandon Warren took the helm as our emcees and knew how to keep the audience laughing while poking fun of our classmates with some hilarious and sometimes too accurate jokes. The first year class showed off their competitive side with the “Forrest Olympics” video and put together a terrific slideshow. The second year class had a dramatic take on the television show, “The Bachelor” with their rendition dubbed “The Physiotherapist” complete with a live “Final Goniometer” Ceremony at the Atlantica. Following the great meal the faculty, students and friends got groovy to some tunes on the dance-floor to finish the night off. Thank you to Emma House and Becky Cahill for all of their hard work organizing this amazing event.
We then we held the annual Wildcat Cup first year vs. second year showdown on April 1st. The intense athletic competition included a large game of tag, basketball, soccer and soccer baseball. Although the Class of 2017 gave it their all in every game, we were unable to triumph over the mighty Class of 2018 who prevailed with the coveted Wildcat Cup. It was a great afternoon allowing us to release our inner “Weekend Warriors” and destress from school work.
The end of the school year means a transition from one council to the next. I would like to welcome Andrew Archibald (President), Emma Aucoin (Vice President), Lindsay Roach (Treasurer), and Maddy Saunders (Secretary) as the Physiotherapy Council for next year.
Finally, the class of 2017 is beginning to feel a bit nostalgic as our time together is quickly fading away and we inch closer to achieving the goal we set-out for ourselves two short years ago. With our Research Day behind us, our Grad Getaway will have to hold us over until our Graduation in October.
