The second year MScPT students walked away as the 2014 Wildcats Cup Champs!
The spring term has come to an end for the first year MScPT students, who finished their last set of exams and are now fulls immersed in their first clinical placement. As for the second years, we’re sure many can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just a few exams, a research proposal defense, and a couple of clinical placements stand in the way between now and graduation!
Despite minor injuries, the Wildcat Cup sports competition between the first and second years was a success. Both classes showed true enthusiasm and effort during the many sports - which included soccer, basketball, floor hockey, dodgeball and a relay race – in hopes to win the sacred Wildcat Cup. After a close competition, the second years walked away proudly with the cup, which we believe made up for our loss in last year’s WCC.
PT Ball was another event to be remembered. The first and second year classes, as well as many professors, pulled out their spiffiest outfit from their closet for a night of good food and lots of dancing. Our MCs, Sandra Ibrahim and Jordan Gillis, provided us with entertainment throughout the night with videos, cheesy jokes and fun games! But that wasn’t the only entertainment there was – along with the first and second year slideshows, both classes showed a video that they had made during the little time they had not studying or in class. The first years’ video was a hilarious parody of the movie Mean Girls and the second year class showed how happy they are by showing their best moves all across Halifax to Pharrell Williams’ Happy song. The night continued with great music and even a photo-booth set up in the corner.
Dalhousie students took part in the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada 5 km fun run and raised money towards funding for research! This is a national event at which many schools participate in. Despite the weather, Dalhousie had a great turn out, raised $715, and had a blast while participating.
Lastly, the 2013-2014 student’s council will finish up their term and have passed the torch down to the new 2014-2015 council consisting of president, Madeline Raymond, Vice President Carolyn Pridham, Treasurer Adam Lomond, and Secretary Emily Nguyen. The new council is eager to take on their roles and start planning a great upcoming year.
