Fall 2016 Student News
~ Brandon Warren - Student President
The class of 2018 have been busy figuring out their schedules while enjoying the orientation events that the amazing student society has organized for them - I may be a bit biased!
The Dalhousie Physiotherapy Student Society of 2017, consists of Brandon Warren (president), Sam Frenette (vice-president), Josiane Bourque (treasurer), and Erica Linde (secretary). This year’s council was extremely busy all summer preparing orientation activities to welcome the incoming class. Events kicked off before the start of classes on September 1st with the campus tours and a meet-and-greet for both classes to mingle. Additional orientation activities have included a scavenger hunt, a boat cruise, buddy dinners and a games night. But wait there’s more… There is still an overnight rafting “getaway” and a chance to show off our competitive sides with OT/PT sports night! We are hoping the incoming class is feeling more comfortable and settled into their new home for the next two years!
The class of 2017 has been busy catching up with each other, professors and staff of the School of Physiotherapy. It definitely feels like an eternity ago that we were climbing up the never-ending stairs in the Forrest building for the first time, trying to figure out what OSCE stood for and taking the long elevator ride up to the cadaver lab. Now one year older and somewhat wiser we’re ready to take on a brand new school year!
With orientation wrapping up, "For the Health of It" is just around the corner and Physiotherapy is looking for a five-peat. Yes you heard that right - FIVE-PEAT. The excitement of the second year class will hopefully project onto the incoming class and will encourage them to get involved. Some of our upcoming fundraising events include a washer-toss tournament, hockey pool, bottle drives and many (many) more!
