Summer 2020 Research Update
Since the advent of the Covid-19 Pandemic the safety and well-being of the Dalhousie community, including its researchers, research staff, trainees and participants, was the universities utmost priority. As active Covid cases subside locally, the university implements its multi-phase plan to return to campus. This month, focusing on health & safety guidelines, the School of Physiotherapy strategically coordinated with other Forrest Building School’s to accommodate the return of approximate 25% of personnel.
Adhering to public health directives, with consideration of physical, mental and emotional health and safety of the School’s research workforce and human-research participants, some research spaces have reopened. Students conducting research and Principle Investigators who cannot continue their research remotely were, and continue to be, a priority focus.
It’s been a challenging time to be sure but, as you can see by our robust listing of publications and activities in this research update, limitations to equipment and laboratories access over the last few months has not prevented our faculty researchers from making substantial contributions to their research fields.
Boe Stroke Study
As Dr. Shaun Boe conducted his research in the university's Laboratory for Brain Recovery and Function Boe set out to study how visualization could help rehabilitate stroke survivors, he didn’t expect to find himself rethinking an entire field of research. But close to a decade later, that’s exactly what he’s doing. Full article
