2014 CPA Congress:
East meets West at this year’s Canadian Physiotherapy Association Congress!
Dalhousie’s School of Physiotherapy will be well represented in Edmonton, June 19th to 22nd. Events you won’t want to miss include:
Alumni Booth [Exhibitors Hall, Thursday-Saturday]:
Visit our booth for information about exciting events leading up to the 50th Anniversary Celebrations for the School of Physiotherapy in 2015! Alumni can win great door prizes and receive a thank-you gift for dropping by (trust us, it’s worth the visit!)!
Alumni Reception [Riverview Room, Shaw Convention Centre, Friday 7-10pm]:
Alumni are cordially invited to attend our alumni reception on Friday evening. Catch up with alumni, faculty and some current students, while enjoying some light finger foods. Those who had visited our booth previously may enjoy a beverage on us, and some lucky guests will walk away with some great door prizes.
Presentations:
Dr. Marie Earl, Assistant Professor, School of Physiotherapy, is scheduled to present on Friday at 10:45 on Improving quality of life of nursing home residents: a case series to explore the problem of inactivity, using the International Classification of Function. Followed by a presentation by her MSc Rehabilitation Research student Andrea Murphy on Assessment of The Community Dwelling Senior for Fall Prevention: The Influence Of The Number Of Trials In Scoring The Timed Up And Go (TUG) Test.
Awards:
So many awards! First up is former School of Physiotherapy Director, Dr. Sandy Rennie, who is the recipient of this year’s Enid Graham Memorial Lecture Award (lecture on Friday at 5:30pm). To cap off this great weekend School of Physiotherapy Lecturer Gail Creaser will receive the CPA Mentorship Award, and MSc Physiotherapy student Jesse Robson will receive the CPA Helen Saarinen Rahikka Student Leadership Award, during the CPA Awards Ceremony and Luncheon on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
And the best news of all? In 2015 CPA Congress will take place in Halifax, June 18-21! There will be all this and more when Congress comes East!

In our February eNews we promised an impressive and wide-ranging winter lineup for the bi-weekly PT Matters Seminar Series, and we delivered! Below is a list of our Winter Term guest speakers.

The PT Matters Seminar Series is offered bi-weekly on Wednesday mornings in the Fall (Sept-Nov) and Winter (Feb-April) each year, with the goal of translating relevant knowledge to students, faculty and members of the clinical community. Many of our seminars are webcast live, and a full recordings archive will soon be available on our website!
Continuing Education Opportunity
