Samantha Richard in Georgetown, Guyana.

Students in both years, may have an opportunity to complete a placement in another country outside of Canada. In January 2014, students completed their neurotherapeutic placements in Georgetown, Guyana and Australia.  Another student, Ekaterina de Jong, is an Israeli national and requested a placement in Israel.  After much communication, this placement was arranged through the kindness of a rehabilitation unit in  the Elisha hospital in Haifa, Israel. Students may receive funding from Dalhousie to enable them to engage in international placements as part of the Student Assistance Program.  This Study/Work International Fund (SWIF) supports study, work or practicum placements that are at least two weeks long and that are a component of a Dalhousie degree. There is a maximum award of $2,000 per applicant and a list of criteria that the student must meet. Katerina was fortunate to have been awarded funding and as part of the guidelines, she has written about this experience.
