Winter 2015 Clinical Education Update

By: Ronald Renz, Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education
2015 is off to a great start, as 54 second year students ventured forth on their third clinical placement focused on neurological conditions and neurotherapeutics. In addition to placements throughout the Atlantic Region, three students headed off to Ottawa, Vancouver, and Tuscon, AZ respectively. This class will return to Dalhousie on February 17 with plenty of tales and ready to jump into Module 8, “Integrated Practice.” Their final two consecutive placements begin June 8.
The Class of 2016 is about to get their feet wet. Now studying “all things musculoskeletal,” they are currently engaged in Module 5, “Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Module 8, "Movement and Exercise Science.” On April 27, they will begin their first of two consecutive six-week clinical education experiences.
Several clinical preceptors were recognized for their significant contribution to our clinical education program over the past year with a “Dalhousie University, School of Physiotherapy Clinical Education Award.” To be eligible for the award, an individual or site must be recognized by students or faculty as being committed to excellence in clinical education. Contributions worthy of this award may include innovative teaching and/or administration practices, or research and dissemination of research initiatives relevant to clinical education (publications, presentations, etc.) We would like to again recognize and thank the following physiotherapists in the Atlantic Region who received this award in 2014.
